Mobiba Tent Sauna - Season 7, Episode 9
Portable Tent Sauna in Action
Making Great Use out of the New
and Improved 2 Room Portable Tent Sauna
Mika Larha from Toronto, ON, came on the Dragons Den with this cool looking Portable Tent Sauna. Coming from Finland with only a population of 5 million people, there is 2.5 million sauna's making it a very popular past time. Mika was looking for a $40,000.00 investment in exchange for a 35% stake in his portable tent sauna business.

The portable sauna tent is basically a Heavy Duty Tent with a built-in wood burning stove inside. You can set it up just about anywhere and enjoy a nice hot sauna no matter how cold it is outside. As an avid Skier, I can think of many times one of these would of come in very handy, but to tell you the truth I never even heard of a portable tent sauna before this episode.

Mika claims it could be -20 degree's outside, but inside the tent it will be a comfortable 80-100 degree's. The Dragons were eager to try out this portable sauna that was all set-up on stage, especially when Larha's model asks who would like to join her.

Mika was importing the tents from a company in Siberia paying $600 each and reselling them in North America Online for $1600 per unit. He has sold out his first order which was 10 portable sauna tents. Larka has a signed deal with the manufacturer with exclusive rights to sell this product. He has been doing this for 18 months and has plans of building his own better version of the Mobiba Sauna Business. Kevin O'Leary not impressed with the volume of orders and never one to hold back, says "That's Exciting, you could sell another 10 of them". Mika explains this has to this point been a part time venture and to test the market to see if he was on to something.

He has a lot of very good ideas on how to grow this untapped market but he needs the Dragons investment and contacts to make them a reality. Mika says "there is nothing else like this in the North American Market". Most of the investors on the Dragons Den "Got It" and realized Mika may be on to something big.

It all came down to investing in Mika Lahma and the vision he has for this market. Bruce an avid outdoors man, loves this idea and sees his passion to make the best portable tent on the market. He offers Lahma the $40 Grand but wants 50% of the business. With no other deals from any of the other Dragons, Mika takes the offer and partners with Bruce Croxon.

Mobiba Tent Dragons Den Update

Considering Mika only had one model of the portable tent saunas when he came to the Dragons Den, he clearly has made great strides in a short amount of time. With Bruce as a new investor and partner in the business, they now have a variety of portable saunas for sale.

Mobiba Tents now sells 2 camouflage models currently for sale on the website. One was taken from the original concept but is more heavy duty and made for more permanent locations while still being considered portable. This two room sauna tent (a changing room) could easily be converted into a long term shelter specifically made for cold weather.

Honestly it just seems like such a bad idea. How many people actually camp in the winter? And do you really need a sauna?? Ok you want to stay warm but seriously a sauna tent?? Just the amount of time it takes to set up, the frustration of carrying all that gear to your location. People who like to rough it in the wild, cold or warm, are not thinking to themselves " I wish my tent was a sauna" I only see an extremely small number of people being interested in this, and of those interested, an even smaller number who would actually purchase it. Definitely not a product that will get you rich.

going to a sauna when its below 0 during winter in a camping trip is very luxurious, and I would go every time if I had the chance.
